Group Bookings in Sydney

Looking for a group booking in Sydney? Dine with Elements takes them at every restaurant, on a long table in the working room rather than a space of your own, with set menus from ten guests.

A group booking is still a table in the main restaurant, not a private room. You sit among other guests, there is no minimum spend and no venue hire, and the main difference is the set menu, which the kitchen needs so that forty plates land at once rather than over an hour. If you want the room to yourselves, that is a function and it works differently.

Which one do you need?

Table, group, private dining or venue hire

One question separates all four: how much of the restaurant comes out of general trade? Nothing, a table or an area, a room with a door, or the entire floor. Everything else follows from that.

When a group booking becomes a function

A group booking is a long table in the working restaurant. Once the numbers outgrow a long table, or you want the space closed to other guests, it becomes a function instead.

The difference matters on the bill. A group booking has no minimum spend and no venue hire, because you are dining alongside everyone else. A function takes a space out of trade for the night, so it carries a minimum spend that a coordinator quotes for your date.

Tell us the date and the numbers and we will tell you which one you are actually asking for.

How groups actually run

  • Final numbers confirmed with the venue before the day
  • One bill to the table, or split by card on request
  • Dietaries built into the menu rather than worked around
  • Cake service, with cakeage at $4 per person for a group of up to 15, or $60 per cake for 16 and over
  • A two and a half hour sitting on peak nights
  • Under 18s welcome, with the cut-off set by the venue on the night

Frequently asked

How many people counts as a group booking?

Ten and over. Under ten is a normal table booking and you can do it online in a minute.

Is there a minimum spend on a group booking?

No. A group booking is a table in the restaurant, so there is no minimum spend and no venue hire. Minimum spends only apply when a space is closed to other guests.

Do we have to have a set menu?

Any booking of ten or more prompts our reservations team to contact you and discuss the set menu. In some circumstances a la carte can be arranged for a service charge, at the reservations team’s discretion. The set menu is how the kitchen gets forty plates to land at once instead of over an hour, and it usually works out better value than ordering a la carte.

Can we split the bill?

Yes. One bill to the table is the default and splitting by card is fine, though on a very large group the venue may ask for one payment to keep the floor moving.

When do you need final numbers?

Seventy two hours before. The set menu is ordered to that number, so it is the figure the kitchen buys against.
