Barangaroo Parking Guide: Where to Park Near Barangaroo and Walsh Bay

The car parks closest to Barangaroo and Walsh Bay, what to check before you set the GPS, and the easier way in on a busy night.
Barangaroo is one of the busiest precincts in the city, and the parking reflects it. Between the office towers, Crown Sydney, Barangaroo Reserve and the theatres at Walsh Bay, the car parks fill early on weeknights and on anything with an event.
These are the options closest to Barangaroo and the Walsh Bay wharves, and how to choose between them.
Barangaroo Reserve car park
Wilson Parking, under Barangaroo Reserve. About 300 spaces, including eight accessible spaces on level B1.
The main public car park for the northern end of Barangaroo, sitting under the reserve itself. Barangaroo’s own visitor information lists the entrance on Towns Place and opening hours of 6am to midnight, seven days. Wilson also lists it as the Barangaroo Point car park with entry from Hickson Road, so check Wilson’s page before you set the GPS rather than circling the wrong street.
Booking a space online with Wilson ahead of time is usually cheaper than the drive-up rate, and on a busy night it is the difference between having a space and not.
Wilson Parking, Pier 8/9
23 Hickson Road, Walsh Bay. Entry from Hickson Road.
The closest car park to the Walsh Bay wharves, underneath the same pier as Elements Bar and Grill Walsh Bay. If your night is at Walsh Bay, this is the one to book first.
Wilson Parking, Bond One
20 Windmill Street, Millers Point.
A short walk uphill from the piers through Millers Point, and a sensible backup when Pier 8/9 is full on a performance night.
Street parking
There is metered parking along Hickson Road and the streets around Millers Point. It is limited, it is time restricted, and some sections are for permit holders only, so read the sign properly before you walk away. It goes early whenever there is a show or an event at the reserve.
Drop-offs and taxis
Barangaroo’s visitor information recommends Towns Place and Argyle Place for taxi drop-offs at the northern end. At Walsh Bay, cars and taxis can drop off directly on Hickson Road outside the piers.
The case for leaving the car at home
Barangaroo Metro station has made the whole precinct easy to reach by train. Elements Bar and Grill Walsh Bay is a short walk from Barangaroo Metro station, north along Hickson Road. Wynyard is about a fifteen minute walk from Walsh Bay, and Circular Quay is about fifteen minutes along the water. If the night involves a bottle of red, the train is the cheaper answer once the parking and the taxi home are added up.
When parking gets hard
Weeknights from about 5:30pm, when the office towers empty and the dinner crowd arrives, and any night with a performance at the Walsh Bay theatres or an event at Barangaroo Reserve. On those nights, book a space online before you leave, or come twenty minutes earlier than you need to.
Parked? Here is where to go next
Once the car is sorted, walk down to the water. Elements Bar and Grill Walsh Bay sits on Pier 8/9, a short walk from Barangaroo and right above the Pier 8/9 car park, with the harbour on three sides and steak cooking over charcoal in view of the pass. Order a drink on the wharf while the sun goes down, take on a tomahawk on a Thursday, or settle in for the night once the precinct goes quiet.
